the extreme effects of cheating on a woman

i saw these and died of laughter...

straight comedy

Apples & Wine

"Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.
Now men...men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to the women to stomp the shit out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with."

Chicano

If you are in the Los Angeles area from now until November 2nd, be sure to make your way to the LACMA to see pieces from Cheech Marin's Chicano collection. I was blessed to see this exhibit when it was showing at the De Young in San Francisco, and I highly recommend it.
One of my favorite pieces, by Vincent Valdez, entitled "Kill the Pachuco Bastard!"

Old Levi's

An EXTREMELY vintage pair of levi's from the 1890's were found in a mine and were auctioned off on ebay. They sold for a mere $36,099.00!

Pineapple Express

inspiration

Located in the barrio of La Boca in Buenos Aires, Argentina. La Boca is known for it's colorful wooden houses and for being the birthplace of the tango. All of the houses in the barrio look like this because when they were painted there was never enough paint to cover one house.

Just a friendly reminder

brainwashed.

I have witnessed & experienced the way a relationship can brainwash a person. Whether it be wanting what your partner wants you to want, or refraining from certain activities because you know that your partner would not approve. For example, not wearing shorts skirts or dresses because it makes him feel insecure, yet you think that you're not wearing them because it's what you want...if that makes any sense. After being put through something like that in my past, now I can recognize a mile away the controlling & brainwashing aspects of relationships. But now it seems to be an epidemic that is spreading to friends. A girl I knew to be independent, outgoing, & sassy has now changed to being dependent, quiet, & conservative. It seems that everyone knows someone like this. Why be with someone where you have to trick your own mind to be something that you're not? If you're with someone, they are your partner...not your controller. The most successful relationships I have seen is where two very independent people come together, and learn to share their life.

If your girlfriend or boyfriend flirts..so be it and trust them.
If they dress sexy, be proud to walk next to them & know that it is you they're going home with.
If they go out with their friends let them.

Bottomline: people need to get over their insecurities and learn to trust.

The Dance

I have sent you my invitation,
the note inscribed on the palm of my hand by the fire of living.
Don't jump up and shout, "Yes, this is what I want! Let's do it!"
Just stand up quietly and dance with me.

Show me how you follow your deepest desires,
spiralling down into the ache within the ache.
And I will show you how I reach inward and open outward
to feel the kiss of the Mystery, sweet lips on my own, everyday.

Don't tell me you want to hold the whole world in your heart.
Show me how you turn away from making another wrong without abandoning yourself when you are hurt and afraid of being unloved.

Tell me a story of who you are,
And see who I am in the stories I am living.
And together we will remember that each of us always has a choice.

Don't tell me how wonderful things will be . . . some day.
Show me you can risk being completely at peace,
truly OK with the way things are right now in this moment,
and again in the next and the next and the next. . .

I have heard enough warrior stories of heroic daring.
Tell me how you crumble when you hit the wall,
the place you cannot go beyond by the strength of your own will.
What carries you to the other side of that wall,
to the fragile beauty of your own humanness?

And after we have shown each other how we have set and kept the clear, healthy boundaries that help us live side by side with each other, let us risk remembering that we never stop silently loving those we once loved out loud.

Take me to the places on the earth that teach you how to dance, the places where you can risk letting the world break your heart.
And I will take you to the places where the earth beneath my feet and the stars overhead make my heart whole again and again.

Show me how you take care of business
without letting business determine who you are.
When the children are fed but still the voices within and around us shout that soul's desires have too high a price,
let us remind each other that it is never about the money.

Show me how you offer to your people and the world
the stories and the songs you want our children's children to remember, and I will show you how I struggle
not to change the world, but to love it.

Sit beside me in long moments of shared solitude,
knowing both our absolute aloneness and our undeniable belonging. Dance with me in the silence and in the sound of small daily words, holding neither against me at the end of the day.

And when the sound of all the declarations of our sincerest
intentions has died away on the wind, dance with me in the infinite pause before the next great inhale of the breath that is breathing us all into being, not filling the emptiness from the outside or from within.

Don't say, "Yes!"
Just take my hand and dance with me.

just another reason to head to dubai

November is looking like a beautiful month. Not only do we have the YSL exhibition at the DeYoung museum to look forward to, but now another reason...Roberto Cavalli's nightclub opening in Dubai. The picture above was an obviously photoshopped version of the club layout. The description: Cavalli's nightclub walls will be "dripping in swarovski crystals," the floors-covered in black quartz, the dance floor-won't be for just dancing, you'll be able to purchase jewelry & watches, and dine on hand-picked Italian food by Cavalli. The top floor will offer a sushi bar.
As if we needed another reason to head to Dubai.

not a onesie, and not a jumper, but rather full coveraged body pants. i don't think this look would be so cute without a cardigan, or tank to pair with it. these looks were featured on Society for Rational Dress's Fall 2008 collection. For more visit: societyforrationaldress.com

middle school blogger

today i came across Tavi's blog...she is a 12 year old fashionista! her about me goes like this: "Salutations! I'm 12 years old and could fit inside your purse. I like to think I'm a mix of Little Lu Lu and Iggy Pop, with a bit of Snoop Doggy Dog. I spend my time wearing out crayons and watching Arthur, and taking a rest now and then to try out the latest Margiela DIY, which has most recently resulted in a tire around my neck. I take part in a rap group with a pirate, and we write about Japanese designers and furry vests. Pleasure to make your acquaintance." she's got more style than any grown up i've ever seen...

A new trend

Although it's not exactly Dubai, Donatella Versace seems to be following the trend of designers collaborating with buildings. However, she will NOT be building in Dubai, but rather the Clock Tower Building at 5 Madison, New York. She will be working on 55 apartments, and a spa. I'm expecting nothing short of gold toilets, and giant lions.

seriously gucci?

With the extreme success of the iphone, GUCCI is now trying to get in. They are creating a gucci icon on the menu of the iphone that will direct users straight to the gucci homepage. Why anyone would need to visit the website often enough to have an icon for it on their phone, I have no idea. I guess we'll have to wait and hear from the Italians how everything works out. (They'll get these versions first)

our prayers have been answered

Ultimate Duo

Good news gentlemen! Kanye West will be combining forces with powerhouse Louis Vuitton to create a men's shoe line! Not only that, but West will be coming out with his own clothing line, and yes there will be a line for the ladies as well. It should be out in the Fall.
