cinnamon and sage

"As I fell back on that big, white bed, my body bounced and feathers flew everywhere. The sun made perfect fairytale character shaped shadows on the wall. And when I licked my lips, I could taste chocolate from that little candy store downtown. And when I touched my arm, it felt like my mother's ivory silk robe. My hair draped over my shoulder like tapestry, and I couldn't stop smiling. Outside I could hear birds singing and fluttering from rooftop to rooftop. Life was warm and understanding. My laughter echoed and echoed down the hall, like little children running up and down....and in between giggles, all I could do was cover my face with my hands, peeking to see if you thought I was strange. I thought it was remarkable how I could hold a grin for so long. The sea of covers swallowed me and so I swam and stretched, and wrestled, so enwrapped in the smell of tangerine, pink lime and bergamot leaves. Your skin smelled like cinnamon bark and sage. Then silence fell and I could hear the neighbor's door settle. You stopped looking at me, and I realized I was just sitting in a cold room, imagining things...."
